Reflecting on Your Results:

Which results about your personality, interests, and values surprised you? Which results reaffirmed what you already knew?

The results about my personality, interests and values were not particularly surprising to me. I'd say I know myself and what I want out of this life pretty well so the results mainly were reaffirming. For example, I know that I am quite an introverted person who bases many things off of emotions and feelings. I like to be alone with my thoughts and observe things before getting too involved and I think my test results reflected that. They also pointed out creativity which made sense to me because I spend much of my spare time doing art.

Were there any jobs that were a match for you across all areas?

The jobs that were a match for me across all areas were not surprising to me either. These included many counselling / special education jobs such as substance abuse and behavioural counsellor, rehabilitation councillor, mental health councillor, childcare worker, special education teacher or pediatrician. I feel like these careers really touch base with my focus on helping others and love for children. 

Did any of the jobs seem surprising or interesting to you?

The only jobs that were surprising to me were the ones that were filtered according to only one or two of the interests / values / personality aspects. The careers that included all three were quite predictable but some of the jobs I was surprised to see on those lists included dentist, anesthesiologist and broadcast news analyst. I feel like, personally, being a dentist or anesthesiologist would be quite dull and not particularly rewarding. Becoming a broadcast news analyst is something I don't think I would ever even consider. Part of the job description mentions improvising as needed and conducting interviews which does not sound appealing to me at all.

Which aspects of the Typefocus tool did you find most useful?

I found it helpful how typefocus had the option to filter out careers based on interests / values / personality AND education level. It made it easier to see not only which jobs might interest me but also how difficult it would be to accomplish each one.
